Air travel is the fastest and most convenient way to reach the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis.
When planning a vacation, finding the most affordable airfare available requires some scheduling flexibility. Here are a few points to consider when booking your flight to St. Kitts or Nevis.
Time. Scheduling your flight well ahead of your vacation will help you avoid extra costs of waiting until the last minute. Also, if you plan to fly in the spring, summer, or fall months, substantial reductions on flights to the Caribbean will be available. Being flexible with when you can fly can save money because those who can stay over Saturday night, fly midweek, or travel less ticketed hours pay less than the full fare.
Sales. Who doesn't like a good sale, finding the right airplane can be like shopping for deals on shoes or clothes. Check travel websites or call airlines directly to find out about discounts, promotional rates, or special fares.
Clubs. Joining a frequent flier club can help save money if you accumulate enough miles. You can even earn free flights and elite status while enjoying the best seats and faster service.
The official Airport of St. Kitts is Robert Llewelyn Bradshaw Airport and is two miles from Basseterre. The airport can be reached by calling +1 (869) 465 8472 on the island. The Vance W. Amory International Airport of Nevis telephone number is +1 (869) 469 9040.

LIAT provides connecting flights to St. Kitts from Nevis, San Juan, Antigua, St. Maarten, Guadeloupe and Barbados. Connecting flights on WinAir include service from Antigua and St. Maarten. From Antigua, Carib Aviation services both St. Kitts and Nevis. On February 3, 2012, construction began on the island's first private jet terminal. The terminal is to be located at LIAT, just west of the main parking apron. The end result, which will include not only the terminal but an eco-friendly business center, events venu, landscaped courtyards, and luxury arrival and departure lounges, is to cost an estimated $15 million(USD). Experts project that the first leg of construction will be completed by October of 2012.

Procedures for screening baggage and passengers, as well as random personal searches have been implemented around the world. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) highly recommends that passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled flights.
To help your trip through the airport go smoother, and to board your flight on time, keep these safety issues in mind.
If you have an electronic ticket, be sure to print the confirmation page before leaving for the airport.
Be sure to keep your passport and boarding pass on hand at all times.
Avoid wearing metal objects. Remove keys, loose change, cell phones and personal data assistants and place them in the bin provided at the security post.
Only ticketed passengers will be allowed through the security checkpoints. Check with the specific airline for procedures if you are accompanying a child or an elderly person and necessary documentation to do so.
Regulations concerning carry-on luggage, including weight and size limitations are imposed. For complete information on rules for carry-on luggage and a list of permissible carry-on items, visit the Transportation Security Administration at www.tsa.gov/public/index.jsp or call 866-289-9673. Some general rules include the following:
Each passenger is allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item such as a laptop, purse, or briefcase.
Sharp objects such as scissors, knives, nail clippers and razors cannot be brought aboard the plane.
Food and beverages may not be brought through security but may be purchased and brought on board once you have cleared security.
It is recommended that you should avoid carrying on wrapped gifts as officials may unwrap them should they need further examination. Consider bringing wrapping paper with you, or send the gifts directly to your destination.
Traveling by plane is an easy way to arrive and depart your tropical vacation on the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis.
