With two islands to cover, you should probably start eating as soon as you arrive. There is a lot in store for you when it comes to eating and eating well. Whether it is a family-run restaurant or a resort serving international cuisine, you'll be sure to find exactly what whets your appetite.

Wherever you end up on St. Kitts and Nevis, you are sure to have plenty of restaurant choices and food options which makes your mouth water.  In Bassetere, dining on the second floor balconies of either Ballahoo or the Circus Grill allow you to overlook the happenings around the Circus and Port Zante while sampling many varieties of food. Daily specials include fresh local seafood such as conch fritters or chowder, grilled lobster and fish cakes, some of Anguilla's favorite foods.  Learn more about the foods St. Kitts is known for at our article on Culinary Styles.

The Frigate Bay area restaurants should not be missed. Authentic Italian dishes of homemade pasta and fine wines can be found at Ciao. Elegant dining at Marshall's which features Caribbean ackee or pan-seared duck, or at Nirvana located at the Fairview Inn, which serves Kittitian and classic dishes are sure to please. The Sunset Cafe at Timothy Beach Resort is relaxed and casual and is known for its saltfish and Johnny cakes, not just the great sunset views. Rock Lobster is the place known for its spiny lobster and tapas and has both indoor and outdoor seating on a palm fond-covered patio. Head off the beaten path to the island's beach bars for some of the island's best restaurants, bars and grills, including Shipwreck, Reggae, and Spice Mill

The most popular place to party (called "limin'" by locals) and dine on delectable eats is along The Strip in Frigate Bay.  Many locations along the beach strip, such as Monkey Bar, Mr. X's Shiggity Shack, Ziggy's Bar, Rainbow Bar, Sunsplash, and Buddie's Bar and Grill appear to be more night club or bar than restaurant, but actually, each serves up cuisine that will make your mouth water.   For example, Shiggity Shack is known for it's Kittian cuisine and lobster dinners, while Rainbow Bar has some of the best fried chicken wings in town. TheDock at Timothy Beach Resort has its own personal pier, where guests can dock their boat before heading in for a few drinks and a meal.  The restaurant also offers up free WiFi.  Seek out the restaurants you want to dine in at our Restaurant Directory, which allows you to search restaurants by name, or if you are interested in a particular cuisine, click here.

Several restaurants on the island close in August or September, so be sure to call before you make the drive. Lunch prices are often times half of the price of a dinner, usually in the range of $9(USD) to $27(USD). American food is often included on the menu at many places for the children or tourists who are shy about trying the local cuisine.

Some of the more expensive restaurants require lunch reservations, and most of them require reservations for dinner. Dinner, many times, is at a set price, ranging from $35-65(USD). Be sure to check the hours of operation for your restaurant choices. Some are open only for dinner, some all day, and some only three days a week. Typically, a ten percent service charge is added to your bill, but additional gratuities are greatly appreciated especially if you've had exceptional service.
