Friar's Bay is divided into two beaches, one on the Atlantic, and one on the Caribbean. Both feature fine sandy beaches. North Friar's Bay, on the Atlantic, has more turbulent waters. South Friar's Bay, on the Caribbean, has gentle waters and is considered to be the better beach.

Although St. Kitts offers beaches that are more secluded than Friar's Bay the mix of natural setting and other special features available at this beach could be what you are looking for.

The beaches found throughout St. Kitts tend to be somewhat quiet, however, Friar's Bay offers something unique. Though few would call this spot urbanized it's not those planning to visit with families or groups of friends may choose to escape the city's bustle without missing the chance to people watch.

You'll easily find beautiful scenery on the beaches of St. Kitts, helping them to become a popular destination for vacationers. And, while many travelers visit these beautiful spots, you may find that some have less of a draw than others. Each beach has its own personality, and you'll find that Friar's Bay may have the perfect personality for you.

Location

Friar's Bay is close to Frigate Bay, so a trip into town is a definite option.

Nearby Hotels

Whether or not you have the beach pretty much to yourself will depend on when you visit. You can generally expect to encounter a fair number of travelers who are staying nearby. There are a few hotels located nearby. Those who would like to stay in this neighborhood can certainly find a spot.

Amenities and Ambience

From swimming and snorkeling on the south side, to body surfing on the north, Friar's Bay offers plenty of activities to visitors. The powdery sands on both sides are perfect for sunbathing.

The number of people on the beach is affected by the day of the week, time of year, and many other factors. Some of St. Kitts' beaches may rarely be crowded, while others are often crowded especially when the season is at its peak. When planning a beach outing a key factor to consider might be, at least for some vacationers, the crowds you'll meet. While some beach goers prefer a crowded beach with lots of activity, many would prefer to just relax in a quiet area.

Like so many places in St. Kitts this beach has a distinctive quality which will be particularly attractive to some visitors. The appealing qualities of this beach are a little different from what you'll experience at other beach locations in St. Kitts. Friar's Bay is popular among tourists, but you'll find locals here also. Fisherman can be seen on the Caribbean side and sometimes you can get them to take you out to some of the best snorkeling spots.

Food

Despite the fact that this beach isn't close to many restaurants you still have some options, especially if you are prepared to venture a little farther away.

St. Kitts offers plenty of great restaurants, but not every meal has to be eaten in a formal setting. Many visitors enjoy eating a meal right at the beach. Many hotels are happy to pack a picnic lunch for their guests, or you can pick up food from local vendors en route to the beach.
