Activities in St. Kitts

St. Kitts and Nevis are sleepy islands where people go to get away from their hectic lives.  You can spend your days relaxing in the sun, but there are also other activities available that will prevent you from going stir crazy.

Water Sports

It's hard to avoid the sea when you're vacationing on an island.  Embrace your surroundings and plan to get out on the water.  Options on St. Kitts include boating, fishing, waterskiing, windsurfing, snorkeling, and diving.  Many of these activities can be arranged through your hotel, but if yours doesn't offer equipment, you can find them at various dive shops and charter companies. Sports

For those who like to stay active during their vacation, there are many options. You can swim laps in your hotel's pool, hike Mt. Liamuiga or Mt. Nevis, and even go mountain biking or horseback riding.  Tennis and golf are two popular sporty options.  There are two golf courses on Nevis and one on St. Kitts, and numerous tennis courts are available as well. 

Shopping

It wouldn't be a vacation without some souvenir shopping.  Keep your eyes open for locally made items for an extra special find.  Pottery, wood carvings, beaded jewelry, artwork, straw mats, and batik are the most popular and easy to transport options.  Note that the shops in St. Kitts and Nevis tend to be open between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, though some close for the afternoon on Thursdays. Events and Festivals

Events and festivals in St. Kitts and Nevis typically fall into one of three categories: cultural celebrations, sporting events, and music festivals.  A few that fall outside of the box include the popular Green Valley Festival and the Nevis International Heritage Exposition.  You'll quickly see that the people of these islands know how to throw a party when you attend one of their annual events. Nightlife

Frigate Bay is the place to be when it comes to after dark entertainment.  The highest concentration of bars and clubs is in this area.
