Every traveler in St. Kitts and Nevis will find lodging options that appeal to them. Whether you wish to stay at an upscale resort, a beautifully restored plantation home, an affordable hotel, or a quaint beachfront cottage, these islands provide many diverse choices.
St. Kitts and Nevis are known for their restored plantation houses that have been turned into inns. These plantation homes where once surrounded by sugar cane, so staying at one of these inns is like traveling back 200 years to a time when the islands' economies thrived because of this abundant natural resource.
Inn owners usually live in the house and therefore provide very warm welcomes to their guests, who often interact with other visitors during meal times. These establishments provide a very intimate, social atmosphere.
Most inns have a meal plan option that includes two meals, most often breakfast and dinner, in the cost of a night's stay. Most of these plantation houses are located inland, however, so some provide a shuttle bus to the beach. Keep in mind, most of these inns don't have air conditioning or TVs.
Bed and Breakfasts are also available in St. Kitts and Nevis, but they have very similar characteristics as the plantation home inns, and are often grouped into the same category.
For those with less rustic tastes, many resorts are located in the area of South Friar's Bay and Frigate Bay on the southern peninsula of St. Kitts. This area has recently experienced a large development boom, which has caused an upswing in the number of new resorts. While many of these resorts feature casinos and golf courses, not all resorts are all-inclusive. Resorts usually provide many activities such as snorkeling, gyms, and spas available to guests for an extra charge.
Most of these resorts are on St. Kitts. Nevis, meanwhile, does have some resorts but is more known for its array of plantation house inns. Rates for hotels and resorts can range from $80(USD) to well over $300(USD) per night.
